San Fernando City, La Union Mayor Gualberto catches Covid

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PNA) – Mayor Hermenegildo Gualberto here has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now under isolation.

In a phone interview Monday, July 25, city corporate relations office head Mico Guzman Mabanag said Gualberto's test yielded positive result Sunday, July 24.

"The mayor is symptomatic. However, he is only experiencing mild symptoms. He will undergo seven-day isolation," he said.

Mabanag said the city hall is in normal operations as Gualberto will continue to work even in isolation.

He said those who had close contact with the mayor are advised to monitor symptoms of Covid-19 such as cough, sore throat, and body pain.

"If they are experiencing symptoms, they may coordinate with the City Health Office," he added.

The residents are also advised to follow the minimum public health protocols and to get their booster shots.

The city recorded 76 active cases as of July 24.
