NOW Telecom Company, Inc., together with affiliate NOW Corporation (NOW Corp.), is negotiating the possible lease of towers for 5G installation with SBA Towers Philippines Inc., a subsidiary of NASDAQ-listed SBA Communications Corporation.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, NOW Corp. said they have just signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SBA Towers Philippines which is focused on providing tower infrastructure and other shared infrastructure in the Philippines.

“The parties are in discussion and negotiating the lease of build- to-suit sites, towers, and passive telecommunications infrastructure and facilities that will be made available for the installation of NOW’s facilities and equipment to provide telecommunications and/or internet services,” the firm said.

It added that, “This is part of the roadmap of the NOW Group of providing 5G or the fifth-generation wireless network technology which will allow the delivery of up to 20 gigabit per second speed to enterprises and homes.”

“It is an integral policy in NOW Group’s roadmap to partner with trusted vendors that are part of the Clean Network,” said NOW Telecom President and COO Engr. Rene L. Rosales.

He added that, “We look forward to working with SBA Towers Philippines whose expertise is providing support to operators like NOW to achieve our vision.”

SBA Towers Philippines is registered with the Department of Information & Communications Technology as an independent tower company.

SBA Communications Corporation is a leading independent owner and operator of wireless communications infrastructure including towers, buildings, rooftops, distributed antenna systems (DAS) and small cells that operates in sixteen markets throughout the Americas, Africa and in the Philippines.
