The PDEA 7, Cebu Provincial Police Office, and Toledo City Police Station walked for about three hours trek before they reached the marijuana plantation in the mountain barangay.

Leia Alcantara, information officer of the PDEA 7, said some 10,000 marijuana plants were discovered in a 1,000-square meter lot.

Alcantara identified the suspected cultivators of the plantation as bothers Richard and Caloy Cañaleso.

The brothers eluded arrest but charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them, said Alcantara.

On the same day, lawmen seized packs of suspected shabu worth P2.7 million from two alleged drug pushers in a buy-bust operation in Aloguinsan, Cebu.

The suspects – Eulaio Manguilimotan Jr. and Ras Fernandez Manano – yielded shabu weighing 410.24 grams, said Police Lt. Roberto Barnido Jr., police chief of Aloguinsan.

The suspects are detained at the Aloguinsan Police Station pending the filing of charges against them.
