Drug peddler killed in gunfight with Bulacan cops


An alleged drug peddler was killed in a shootout with operatives of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Bulacan Police in Barangay Santor, City of Malolos Friday night, July 22.

Lt. Col. Ferdinand Germino, Malolos City police chief, identified the slain suspect as Sherwin Thompson alias “Wiwin”, 40, of Barangay Santor. His two other cohorts, identified as Romeo Estable and Eric Uy, were arrested.

Based on the police report, Thompson fled after sensing that he was dealing with a police poseur-buyer during an entrapment operation launched by the SDEU team.

His two cohorts stayed in the area and were arrested.

As the suspect was about to be apprehended, he drew his gun and engaged the operatives in a shootout, resulting in his death.

Recovered from the slain suspect were three sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 20 grams with a street value of P136,000, one .45-caliber pistol loaded with three live bullets, a weighing scale, drug paraphernalia, and the buy-bust money, police said. (Freddie C. Velez)
