This nicotine gum will help you live a healthier life

Nicorette is said to work as fast as 15 minutes

Did you know that every June is National No Smoking month? By Proclamation No. 183, Filipinos are encouraged to stop the habit and be aware of the danger tobacco causes to the smokers and the people around them.

Earlier this month, Nicorette, a nicotine replacement therapy gum brand invited the media to a round table discussion about awareness of this vice. Attending the event were John Matthew Uy, a Nicorette user and successful quitter, and pulmonologist Dr. Leni Fernandez who enlightened the guests about the threats of smoking.

“Tobacco contains a highly addictive substance called nicotine that stimulates the brain to give pleasure when smoking. In addition, tobacco itself carries many other harmful components and due to addiction, a smoker keeps inhaling these substances that are detrimental to their health,” said pulmonologist Dr. Lenora Cañizares-Fernandez. “The damage of smoking is not limited to the lungs but to other organs of the body as well, as it is also a known risk factor for cancers and cardiovascular disease. Apart from this, smoking increases complications of diabetes and other lung diseases.”

Nicorette gum is a type of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) that can help you quit nine times more successfully. The gum is said to work in as fast as 15 minutes, actively fighting against the seven withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, difficulty concentrating, depressed mood, insomnia, irritability, restlessness, and increased appetite.

John Matthew, who has tried the NRT shared his story and how Nicorette helped him in quitting. “Quitting can really be challenging but I must face them because my main reason to quit smoking is for my family. I’m already a dad now and I want to be there for them especially for my son. Aside from this, I also want to improve my health so I can be with my family for a long time,” said John Matthew Uy. “When I decided to quit, I really didn’t know where to start. I asked the help of my family for support as well as my friends and they suggested Nicorette to me. It wasn’t until then that I finally got the answer to successfully quit smoking for good.”

Supporting this campaign is Nicorette brand manager Patricia Rodriguez who encouraged the media and other smokers to give the NRT a try for a healthier lifestyle. “We acknowledge the hardships that smokers face when they try to quit smoking and we are committed to giving them a solution and an answer to successfully break free from smoking for good before it’s too late, and that is with Nicorette,” said Patricia. “Nicorette’s goal is to wean you off nicotine dependence which makes the dangerous tobacco, tar, and other harmful chemical-filled cigarettes so addictive. The time to quit is now or never so they can finally live healthier, happier, and tobacco-free lives.”
