PANGASINAN -- The Department of Public Works and Highways on Saturday, July 16, confirmed that a kilometer-long area along the Villa Verde Trail in Malico, San Nicolas is critical and landslide-prone due to the continuous rain.
A landslide was already recorded on Wednesday and the DPWH immediately addressed and cleared the area.
However, another landslide occurred on Friday evening. The DPWH did the clearing operation early morning on Saturday and was finished around 11 a.m.
The DPWH also said that there is ongoing construction of rock fall netting along the 12 sections of Villa Verde Road precisely to prevent erosion.
Rock netting is used on unstable rock faces and slopes to contain and control rock fall, and against the effects of erosion.
The Villa Verde Trail is a road which bridges Pangasinan and Nueva Vizcaya. It measures about 22 kilometers, according to Bince.
