Retired cop wanted for frustrated murder nabbed in Cebu

CEBU CITY – A retired policeman wanted for frustrated murder was arrested in the City of Naga, Cebu Thursday, July 15.

The suspect, Leoncio Masocol Salubre Jr., 58, was arrested in his home in Barangay Pangdan at around 4 p.m.

Salubre was listed as the No. 1 most wanted person in Cebu, said Police Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas.

Salubre had a standing arrest warrant issued by Presiding Judge Soliver Calumba Peras of the Regional Trial Court Branch 10 here.

The 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, together with the Cebu City Mobile Force Company and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Cebu City Field Unit, served the warrant of arrest against the former policeman.

Vega said the intensified efforts to track down all wanted persons in the region will continue.

"We will enforce the law without fear or favor. Our relentless police operations against all forms of criminality continue to ensure peace and order and the safety of the Cebuanos in the region," said Vega.
