The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) cited the Las Pinas City government for its implementation of sanitation and environmental programs.
The city government received a certificate of recognition for its commitment in the implementation of the Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Management Act of 2000.
Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the city was also given a plaque of recognition for best practices in composting operation.
Aguilar said that the recognitions, signed by EMB-National Capital Region (NCR) regional director Atty. Michael Drake P. Matias, were awarded to the city during the solid waste management summit held at the Manila Hotel on July 14.
She said the awards only showed that the City Environment and Natural Resource Office (CENRO) team is working hard to keep the city environment clean and healthy
The mayor thanked the DENR-EMB for the citations, as well as the city residents for their continued support in all the activities and programs of the city government in making Las Las Piñas clean and green.
Aguilar also vowed that her administration will continue to promote sanitation and environmental programs.
