A suspected drug peddler was killed in an alleged shootout with police during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Loma de Gato, Marilao, Bulacan, Wednesday afternoon, July 13.
Police Col. Charlie A. Cabradilla, acting provincial police director, identified the fatality as alias Rick Tiamzon.
Tiamzon’s three cohorts -- Kenneth Tiozon, John Michael Macaraig, and Katherine Pardola, all residents of Looban 1st, Loma de Gato, Marilao -- were arrested.
According to the police report, the entrapment operation was launched by the Bulacan Police Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of Marilao Police.
During the sting, Tiamzon engaged the police officers in a gunfight that resulted in his death.
The operatives recovered from the slain suspect four sachets of shabu weighing 55 grams with an estimated value of P398,000; a 9mm pistol, six fired cartridge cases, a deformed slug of .9mm, and the buy-bust money.
The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Police Forensic Unit for examination, while the body of Tiamzon was brought to Faith Funeral Homes in Barangay Gaya-Gaya, City of San Jose Del Monte.
