The Apostolic Vicariate of Bontoc-Lagawe is appealing for help for the families and farmers affected by floods and landslides in Banaue.

Fr. Apolonio Dulawan, MJ, Social Action Center Director of the Apostolic Vicariate of Bontoc-Lagawe said they are currently coordinating with the small communities for their immediate needs as a result of the disaster.
“We are contacting all the BECs, the Basic Ecclesial Communities, to check on those who might be needing help. We are also looking at long term plans for the farmers who lost their livelihood,” Fr. Dulawan said over Radio Veritas.
Aside from relief goods, the Church leader said, there has to be rebuilding programs for families who lost their homes because of the landslides.
According to records, some 465 rice farmers and 251 vegetable farmers of high-value crops were affected by the floods. Three houses were totally damaged while around 1,044 houses were partially damaged.
National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Spokesperson Mark Timbal said the disaster has resulted to P40 million in loses to agriculture and P500 million in infrastructure.
The floods and landslides occurred on July 7 due to the incessant rains in the Ifugao Province with Banaue as the most affected town.
