Pulong, Chinese Consul General meet, tackle support for IPs in Davao City


DAVAO CITY – Davao City Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte and Republic of China Consul General Li Lin discussed support for indigenous peoples in an evening dinner here Saturday, July 9.

Rep. Duterte and Li met at the house of the Consul General following Li’s invitation to the young congressman for a table blowout.

The congressman’s office released photos of him with Li and other significant persons. Li has been assigned to Davao City since April 2018.

In an official statement, Rep. Duterte said the meeting reaffirms continuing friendship between the two nations and identifies the program that the government of China will support here.

Li presented to Rep. Duterte the program that his government will support under the neophyte solon’s term and the present administration of the Philippines – livelihood for indigenous peoples in this city.

Rep. Duterte expressed full support for the program. He vowed to work hand-in-hand with Li’s office to alleviate the socio-economic condition of the indigenous people here.

Former President Duterte’s son thanked the government of China for ongoing support to infrastructure projects that the Philippine government has undertaken and the numerous initiatives that have helped revive the Philippine economy.

“This (meeting) is a further step on the right path and a bright future for the two countries,” Rep. Duterte added.He said he would make sure that the program is appropriately run to ensure the full support of all of the indigenous peoples here.
