ILOILO CITY – Police arrested and seized P102,000 worth of shabu from a suspected drug pusher in a buy-bust operation in Bingawan, Iloilo Friday, July 8.

The suspect was identified as Joenard Babon Briones, 47, a resident of Bingawan.

Briones was nabbed after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer.

The sting operation was conducted by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Drug Enforcement Unit (IPPO-DEU) and the Bingawan Municipal Police Station.

Around 15 grams of shabu were recovered from the suspect, who, according to Police Lt. Ryan Inot, acting chief of the Bingawan Municipal Police Station, had surrendered to authorities during the “Tokhang” anti-drug campaign of the Duterte administration.

Inot added that the suspect’s illegal drug transactions were mostly conducted at his house.

Briones lived in Tapaz, Capiz and transferred to Bingawan in 2016.

The suspect faces charges for violating Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
