Bongbong urges LGU execs to support booster rollout for kids

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has urged local government officials to support the campaign rollout of Covid-19 booster shots for children so the country would be able to completely continue the conduct of face-to-face classes.

"I hope that you will be part of the effort that we have to bring us back to normal. This is really part of the effort to bring us back to normal," Marcos told the newly-elected government officials as part of his taped congratulatory message.

Marcos made his call of support as he stressed the importance of face-to-face classes for students. He also cited the importance of further opening the economy by the administration of booster shots as protection against the virus.

"Gawin natin itong booster rollout at makakatiyak tayo wala nang lockdown at ayaw na ayaw na naming magkaroon ng lockdown (Let's implement this booster rollout and we can ensure that there will be no more lockdowns because we don't want them)," he gave assurance.

Calling the previous support given by local executives as a "very good job," Marcos urged them again to do the same this year.

Particularly, the President wanted local government units to conduct large-scale immunization drives, targeting school children so they can safely go back to school in the coming months.

This came as Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte expressed plans to resume face-to-face classes, initially from two-day to three-day weekly classes.

Marcos delivered his message virtually after not being able to attend Friday's gathering with newly-elected local government officials as he tested positive for Covid-19.
