“We have geared towards what we have considered as an integral requirement for progress – that is better infrastructure. For we firmly believe that this is the foundation for economic growth," Nava said as she addressed the 10th Guimaras Provincial Board during their inaugural session earlier this week.
One key priority of Nava in infrastructure development is the conversion of major provincial roads to national roads.
Nava vowed to complete more tourism roads in the next three years as the island province is hoping to boost its domestic tourism with the lifting of the Covid-19 travel restrictions.
In the past six years, Nava was able to facilitate the completion of 70 road sections as part of tourism roads in Guimaras.
"We have given importance to roads leading to tourism areas for we have hope that with better road network, we could support and promote the tourism potentials of our province. Our plan is to continually improve more of our tourism roads in order to strengthen one of our economic anchors," Nava added.
Nava is also pushing for the upgrading of the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital (DCGNPH) into a Level 2 hospital with 100-bed capacity. Her officer had earlier allotted P95 million for the construction of the hospital’s annex building.
She assured she will work with Guimaras Provincial Board as well as the executive branch of the provincial government led by her husband, Gov. JC Rahman Nava.
