Albay 2nd district Rep. Joey Salceda has confirmed that he will retain his chairmanship of the House Committee on Ways and Means in the upcoming 19th Congress.

"It's ways and means," Salceda said when asked about the panel that he would be holding in the new Congress.

He relayed this information after a meeting with presumptive House Speaker, Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez last week.

The Committee on Ways and Means is among the more technical panels in the lower chamber as far as its discussions are concerned. Salceda, an economist and former longtime governor of Albay, served as chairman of the panel for the past three years.

The panel's jurisdiction covers "all matters directly and principally relating to the fiscal, monetary and financial affairs of the national government including tariff, taxation, revenues, borrowing, credit and bonded indebtedness".

The 19th Congress will begin in earnest on July 25.
