The Philippine women’s national football team handily weaved through Singapore’s defense and waxed hot in the first half with four goals.

The Filipina booters continued the onslaught in the next 45 minutes and scored three goals for an easy victory that earned them a total of six points to top the group. Thailand trailed with four points following a 2-2 draw against Australia earlier at the same venue.

Over at Binan Football Stadium in Laguna, Indonesia and Malaysia also settled for a 1-1 draw.

Isabella Flanigan set the pace for the Filipinas with an early goal at the ninth minute mark before an own goal easily gave the Philippines its second score in the ensuing play.

Two headers from Tahnai Annis and Sarina Bolden at the 19th and 38th minute marks, respectively, closed out a strong first half for the Filipinas.

Just two minutes into the next half though, Sarra Eggesvik zoomed through and found the back of the net before Kaya Hawkinson followed it up with another goal at the 55th minute mark.

The Philippines pulled away for good and never looked back at that point as Anicka Castaneda scored the seventh off a Carleigh Frilles’ earlier attempt at the 69th minute mark.

Malaysia earned two points so far while Australia, Indonesia, and Singapore shared one point apiece.
