2 killed, 1 wounded in Batangas, Quezon shootings


CAMP GEN. VICENTE LIM, Calamba City, Laguna – Two men were killed while another was critically wounded in separate shooting incidents in Batangas and Quezon Tuesday, July 5.

The Police Regional Office 4-A (PRO 4-A) identified the fatalities as Marco Ibañez, 45, of Sitio Tala, Barangay Munting Indang, Nasugbu, Batangas; and Joel Leopango of San Juan, Batangas.

Police said Ibañez was driving on his motorcycle on Apacible Boulevard, Barangay Bucana, Nasugbu at around 7 a.m. when a car blocked his path and two unidentified men shot him several times.

The suspects fled and Ibanez died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds.

Leopango was driving his motorcycle in Sitio Silangan, Barangay Palingowak, San Juan around 6:30 p.m. when he was shot by the suspect Nelson Britana who was standing in front of his house. The victim died on the spot.

Bien Carlo Rogel Nadera, single, 26, of Angeles Zone 1, Tayabas City, Quezon, was driving his motorcycle in Barangay Ibabang Bukal, Tayabas going to the city proper when he was shot and wounded by a man onboard a black motorcycle at 8:15 p.m.

The suspect fled while the victim was taken by the city Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City.

Police recovered from the crime scene five fired cartridges of a .45 caliber pistol and a slug.
