P220,000 worth of fake cigarettes seized in Negros Oriental

BACOLOD CITY - Four boxes of fake cigarettes worth P220,000 were seized by police operatives from a trader in an entrapment operation in Barangay Bagawines, Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental on Monday.

The trader arrested by the Provincial Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) was Abdul Jalil Mangundaya Mamarinta, 48, of Barangay 5, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

According to a report from the Negros Oriental police, the suspect was allegedly caught selling fake cigarettes worth P77,000 to a police agent during the operation.

Mamarinta is detained at Vallehermoso Municipal Police Station.

He will be charged for violation of Section 168.3 (a) of Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
