‘Nanlaban’ drug pusher gunned down in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A suspected drug pusher was gunned down by anti-illegal drug operatives when he allegedly resisted arrest or "nanlaban" during a buy-bust operation here Sunday, July 3.

The fatality was identified as Reynante Cañete Alvarez, 54, fifth in the priority list of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Alvarez was reportedly shot by a PDEA agent when the armed suspect tried to resist arrest after the exchange of marked money and suspected shabu during a transaction.

The suspect was killed on the spot.

Operatives recovered 50 grams worth of shabu with an estimated street value of P340,000, marked money, a 9mm pistol, an identification card, a motorcycle, and other personal items.

The confiscated items were brought to the PDEA headquarters.
