San Juan City barangay receives seal of good governance from DILG

A barangay in San Juan City has been awarded the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for Barangays from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the year 2021, making it one of the 11 villages in the entire National Capital Region (NCR) to be recognized by the agency.

According to the DILG, the SGLG puts primacy to integrity and good performance as pillars of meaningful local autonomy and development. It is a progressive assessment system that gives distinction to remarkable local government performance across several areas.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said that Barangay Sta. Lucia was chosen by the DILG as the pilot barangay to undergo the strict scrutiny of the department in all aspects of good governance from financial sustainability and administration; social protection and sensitivity; safety, peace and order; tourism, heritage development, culture and arts; and youth development.

"My sincerest congratulations to Barangay Sta. Lucia and its council, headed by Barangay Chairman Eustaquio “Jun” Belches, Jr. You have brought honor to our beloved city and have highlighted our thrust for better public and government service through our Makabagong San Juan," Zamora said in a statement.
