Feast of Our Lady of Piat

Marian devotees celebrate on Saturday, July 2, the feast day of Our Lady of Piat, the venerated patroness of Cagayan Valley.

Holy masses in honor of the Mother of Cagayan will be celebrated at the Basilica Minore de Piat in Tuguegarao, Cagayan.

The basilica is considered as one of the top ten Marian pilgrimage sites in the country. It receives hundreds of visitors every year.

On July 2, Holy Masses will be offered at 1 a.m., 2:30 a.m., 4 a.m., 5:30 a.m., 10 a.m. (Misa Mayor), 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and at 7 p.m.

Solemn vigil masses were held on Friday, July 1, at 4:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 10 p.m., and at 11:30 p.m.

An evening procession was also held last Friday. Novena masses were held from June 23 to July 1.

The Manila fiesta mass will be offered on Saturday, July 9, at 10 a.m. at the Santuario de Santo Cristo Parish Church in San Juan, Metro Manila.

Our Lady of Piat devotees in Metro Manila, following a 45-year-old tradition, also traditionally gather for a special commemorative mass at the Santo Domingo Church on Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

Devotion to the miraculous Our Lady of Piat began in 1604 when the Dominican missionaries brought the image from Macau to Cagayan Valley and has since spread across the country.
