Bulacan village chief killed in ambush

A village chief was shot dead by two armed men after attending a birthday party in Barangay Buliran, San Miguel, Bulacan, Thursday night, June 30.

Police identified the victim as Marvin Avendano, chairman of Barangay San Jose in San Miguel town.

Based on the initial report of San Miguel police, the victim was riding his pickup with plate number ABJ-5205 on his way home from a birthday celebration when the unidentified assailants blocked his path and shot him several times.

Avendano died on the spot from bullet wounds in the neck and chest as his vehicle crashed into a post after being shot.

As of this writing, police investigators were establishing the identities of the suspects and the motive behind the killing.
