Headed by Director Julie J. Daquioag, the DILG Regional Office 1 was lauded for assisting and facilitating the acceptance and transportation of human remains of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) at the height of the strict community quarantine.

The Madaydayaw Award is conferred to provinces and all government agencies that greatly exemplified teamwork and camaraderie to ensure that the OFWs reach their doorsteps through unhampered travel across the borders in the region.

Meanwhile, the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Council of Environmental Planning has approved the accreditation of the DILG Regional 1 Office as a CPD Provider after completing the requirements in accordance with the PRC Resolution No. 1032, Series of 2017 or the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 10912, otherwise known as the CPD Act of 2016.

Republic Act No. 10912 was enacted by Congress on March 23, 2016 to promote and upgrade the practice of professions in the country.

As an accredited CPD Provider, the DILG-Region 1 can provide CPD units with its future training programs related to Environmental Planning starting with the Management Course for Local Officials and Functionaries which is a joint project of a consortium of DILG-Region 1 through its Local Government Regional Resource Center (LGRRC) and Saint Louis College (SLC).

The management course for local officials and functionaries is a short online course offering in the preparation or updating of the six-year Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) of the LGUs.

It is offered to all local officials and functionaries, especially Local Planning and Development Coordinators (LPDCs) and their technical staff and all interested employees of the national government in the region.

Daquioag said that the accreditation as CPD Provider is another milestone of DILG-Region 1 in its commitment to support not only the continuing professional development of all local planners who are licensed Environmental Planners but also all licensed Environmental Planners from National Government Agencies (NGAs).
