Linde PH expands industrial gases supply to JG Summit

With fresh investment of $10 million, the Philippine subsidiary of multinational chemical company Linde plc has expanded the supply of industrial gases to the JG Summit Olefins Corporation (JGSOC), a petrochemical company of the Gokongwei group.

Linde Philippines said it recently commissioned its new nitrogen and hydrogen production plants at the JGSOC manufacturing complex in Batangas City.

As explained by Patrick Go, president and CEO of JGSOC, “We partnered with Linde for our expansion project because of their innovative process solutions and consistent track record of providing high-quality services that are set to global standards.”

Linde Philippines said the new project includes installation of an Ecogan nitrogen generator, and that has been considered as “the latest addition to Linde’s range of compact on-site nitrogen plants, featuring an innovative, energy-efficient design.”

Additionally, the company installed a “pressure swing adsorption (PSA) plant recovering and purifying byproduct hydrogen from the naphtha cracker.”

With the newly completed facilities, the European company indicated that “nitrogen will be supplied throughout the naphtha cracker complex and nitrogen and hydrogen will be supplied to JG Summit’s polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plants.”

Raymond Santayana, President of Linde Philippines, noted that “the technology and solutions that Linde can offer, our experienced team and local infrastructure enable us to support some of the largest projects in the country,” and their company regards JGSOC among its core clients in the country.

Linde Philippines is a top-tier gases manufacturing company, which has been operating an extensive network of gas production plants, distribution facilities and sales centers supplying industrial, healthcare and electronics gases across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

For its part, JGSOC is the only integrated polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) resin manufacturer in the Philippines.

Its naphtha cracker facility, in particular, has been designed “to primarily produce polymer-grade ethylene and polymer-grade propylene; provides feedstock for the downstream PE and PP polymerization plants, which in turn provide a stable supply of PE and PP resin for the local plastics industry.”
