Kara David is new chair of UP Diliman's Department of Journalism

Broadcast journalist Kara David is the new chair of the journalism department at the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication.

The news was confirmed by the UP College of Mass Communication in a Facebook post.

"Maraming salamat, Dr. Rachel Khan, for serving as our Associate Dean and as Chair of the Journalism Department. Welcome to Asst Prof Maria Aurora Lolita Liwag-Lomibao, PhD, as our Associate Dean and Asst Prof. Kara Patria David, MA, as the Chair of the Journalism Department," the post read.

Note that Kara is currently serving as Assistant Professor in the university's College of Mass Communication.

Last year, the GMA News reporter talked about why she uses Taylor Swift and Gloc-9 as models when teaching journalism to students.

According to her, aside from her being a “fan” of those pop artists, she sees them as “smart” musicians who infuse stories in their lyrics.

Kara related that as a music fan, she enjoys listening to the songs and memorizing the lyrics. Then, analyzing the meaning behind every word.
