Woman killed, live-in partner wounded in Abra shooting


BANGUED, Abra – A woman was killed while her live-in partner was wounded by a lone gunman in Barangay Mudiit, Dolores, this province, Wednesday, June 29.

Police identified the victim as Benita Turqueza, 58, married, unemployed, of Barangay Poblacion, Dolores.

Investigation by the Dolores Municipal Police Station said that Turqueza and her live-in partner, Danilo Briosos, 60, married, unemployed, of Barangay Mudiit, were sitting in the balcony of their house when the gunman appeared and fired at them at around 7:40 p.m.

Turqueza were taken to the Abra Provincial Hospital here where she was declared dead by Dr. Felino Burgos. On the other hand, Briosos is undergoing treatment at Seares Hospital, this capital town.

Police are now determining the motive of the shooting and conducting a manhunt against the suspect.
