Outgoing Navotas City Mayor Tobias "Toby" Tiangco on Wednesday, June 29, formally turned over the reins of the city government to lone district Representative and Mayor-elect John Reynald "John Rey" Tiangco.
Department of Interior and Local Government- (DILG) Navotas Director Ms. Sudi Valencia, outgoing Vice-mayor Clint Geronimo, elected city officials, and department heads attended the local governance transition ceremonial turnover held at the Navotas City Hall.
Mayor Tiangco thanked his constituents and commended the local leaders and those who helped him during his three-year term as mayor.
"Public servants here, yung mga employees natin (our employees), worked hard because their dedication is to the Navoteño," he said.
He also reminded the residents that the city needs their cooperation and support to the programs and project for the city.
Both the outgoing and incoming mayors signed the the city's turnover documents as a symbol of the transition of governance.
Mayor-elect John Rey Tiangco also thanked city residents for their support during his term as congressman as well as for their trust.
He said his experience as the district representative and leader will help as the city and the country are facing various concerns like the economic crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Hindi naman magbabago yung prayoridad po natin dito sa ating lungsod. Ang prayoridad po natin siyempre kung ano yung importante sa ating pamilya (Our priority will not change. Our priority will remain that which is important for our family," he said.
"Magsama-sama po tayo doon sa pangarap po natin na maitaas ang antas ng buhay ng bawat Navoteño (Let's unite towards our dream to raise the standard of living of every Navoteño), he added.
The newly-elected city councilors were also sworn in during the event.
