This was confirmed by the Federation of Associations of Private Schools & Administrators (FAPSA) President Eleazardo Kasilag in a Facebook post on Wednesday, June 29.

Kasilag shared that he also received a call from DepEd Private Education Office (PEO) Head Jocelyn Andaya on the said virtual meeting.

In a letter he posted dated June 28, Andaya informed Kasilag that Vice President-elect and incoming DepEd Chief Sara Duterte has requested a virtual meeting with private educational institutions such as FAPSA.

Outgoing Education Secretary Leonor Briones is also expected to attend the said meeting scheduled on July 4.

In the letter, Andaya said that the virtual meeting with Briones, FAPSA, and other representatives from private schools is “in line with the preparations for the transition to the incoming administration.”

Early this week, Kasilag lamented that private schools in the Philippines “continue to close” due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on enrollment and school operations.

Kasilag also appealed to the government to “come to our rescue” since private schools are also “partners” of the government when it comes to education delivery to Filipino learners.
