Notorious thief gunned down, body dumped in secluded area in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY – An alleged notorious thief was found dead in a secluded area on Palanca Road, Barangay 8 here Tuesday, June 28.

The victim was identified as Mark Decolongon, 37, of Barangay Tangub here, the 13th victim in a series of shooting incidents in this month.

Police Corporal Cesar Chavez Jr., case investigator of Police Station 2, said the victim was killed in the area as two fired bullets from a .45 caliber pistol were recovered from the crime scene.

Prior to the incident, the victim reportedly left their house to gather scrap materials in the area.

However, a few hours later, he was found lying on the roadside with bullet wounds in the neck and chest, according to Chavez.

Chavez said they could not yet establish the motive in the incident but he noted that the victim had previous theft records at Police Station 1 and was identified by his friends and family as an alleged drug user.

Police are looking into grudges in relation to his theft cases as possible angle in the incident.

This is the second shooting incident this week, and as of Wednesday, June 29, 10 deaths have already been reported since June 1, including the killings of two minors.
