Comelec to comply with SC TRO on P3PWD substitute nominees

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said it has already received the Temporary Restraining Order issued by the Supreme Court in response to the petition of the Duterte Youth Party List on the substitution of the nominees of the P3PWD Party List.

"This is to confirm the receipt of the Temporary Restraining Order issued by the Honorable Supreme Court in GR No. 261123 'Duterte Youth vs. the Comelec, the House of Representatives and P3PWD Party List,'" Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said in a statement.

The Clerk of the Commission, he said, received the copy Wednesday (June 29) afternoon.

The TRO enjoins Comelec from implementing its resolution approving the substitution of the original nominees of P3PWD Party List with five nominees led by former poll Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, and issuing the Certificate of Proclamation to the substituting nominees.

Laudiangco said the Comelec will "comply with the TRO and its directive to file Comment."

"We will seek representation of the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) as a matter of procedure," he said.

It was last June 15 when the Comelec granted and approved the new list of nominees submitted by the P3PWD Party List.
