Although there is no scheduled face-to-face meeting between outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo and incoming Vice President Sara Duterte, the latter’s spokesman said on Tuesday, June 28, that there might be a scheduled meeting with all former vice presidents to discuss some issues.
Duterte, who took her oath of office last June 19 in her hometown of Davao City, will formally begin her term as vice president at noon of June 30.
At the same time, Robredo will end her six-year stint as the country’s second-highest official.
Duterte’s spokesman Reynold Munsayac said that there is “no scheduled meeting with VP Leni before June 30” as Duterte is set to administer oaths today and attend the One Cebu oath-taking.
“There is a plan, however, to invite all former Vice Presidents for a fellowship lunch in the coming days,” he said.
This meeting is meant to discuss “their alloted security from the VPSPG (Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group)” and the “planned Vice President’s Museum.”
But Munsayac clarified that the said meeting “will depend on the interest of the former VPs and would need a common available schedule for all.”
If it pushes through, it will be the first meeting between Robredo and Duterte since 2015 when they were photographed having lunch.

Robredo already said she had previously met with former Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Duterte, on the other hand, has sent a transition team to the Quezon City Reception House (QCRH), where Robredo held office for six years.
The incoming vice president will also use the QCRH as a temporary office before looking for a permanent residence for the vice president, which will be one of her goals for the office.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) recently launched the VPSPG, a “separate” unit from the Presidential Security Group (PSG) for Sara Duterte.

The VPSPG was formerly called the Vice Presidential Security Detachment (VPSD) the unit that was assigned to Robredo and her family.
The VPSD was not attached to the PSG.
A PSG personnel was already previously assigned to Duterte as the daughter of the incumbent president.
