President-elect BBM, VP Sara grace mass oath-taking of One Cebu Party’s winning bets

CEBU CITY -- President-elect Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte graced the mass oath-taking of winning candidates of the powerhouse One Cebu Party on Tuesday, June 28.

VP Sara arrived around 6 p.m. while Marcos showed up at Marco Polo Hotel shortly before 7 p.m.

One Cebu, headed by its president, reelected Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, held the mass oath-taking to highlight its resounding victory in the May 9 elections.

There were 51 mayoralty seats at stake in the recent elections with 43 winning candidates belonging to One Cebu and party allies for a high winning rate of 85 percent.

Leading the winning candidates was Garcia, who became the first candidate to earn a million votes in the history of the province’s electoral process.

Garcia got 1.48 million votes, scoring a lopsided win over former Tourism Secretary Ace Durano. The winning margin was 1.14 million votes.

This year’s election also saw One Cebu endorse the ‘UniTeam’ tandem of Marcos and Duterte.

Marcos and Duterte went on to receive at least one million votes in Cebu, the most vote-rich province in the country.

Losing senatorial candidates Harry Roque and Salvador Panelo also attended the event, which was kicked off by a Holy Mass.
