BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan — A soft spoken and truly kind hearted Mayor Mary Clare Judith Phyllis ‘Nina’ Jose-Quiambao has appealed to Bayambangueños to unite in fight against poverty.

The amiable first female mayor elected in the municipality of Bayambang, made the appeal on Tuesday, June 28, as she took her oath during a well-attended ceremony at the Balon Bayambang Events Center.

The lady Mayor stressed that her administration is committed to continue and intensify further the revolution against poverty which was actually the flagship program of the previous administration under her husband, Mayor Dr. Cezar T. Quiambao.

Teary-eyed on her speech, Mayor Quiambao promised the Bayambangueños that as the mother of the town, to end the cycle of poverty by addressing it from the roots.

“We will raise strong children, strengthen family ties, promote health and wellness, inculcate positive values to the youth, ensure food security, and give better and brighter opportunities for parents to provide their family’s needs” she said.

The new Mayor admitted she faces daunting challenge as the mother of the town.

“I have big shoes to fill because I am following the footsteps of the best Mayor Bayambang has ever had,” she said, referring to her husband.

“Nakaka-pressure, but I am excited because this is the part where I get to prove to you that I, Niña Jose-Quiambao, am a true Bayambangueña, and I love Bayambang with all my heart,” she added.

Joining Mayor Quiambao as head of the Legislative Department is Municipal Vice-Mayor lan Camille C. Sabangan, now also the very first Vice-Mayor of Bayambang.

The Oath Taking Ceremony for the newly-elected officials was presided over by Municipal Trial Court Judge Dominico Sanchez.

Also inaugurated were Municipal Councilors, Hon. Mylvin T. Junio, Hon. Philip R. Dumalanta, Hon. Benjamin Francisco S. de Vera, Hon. Jose S. Ramos, Hon. Gerardo D.C. Flores, Hon. Martin E. Terrado II, Hon. Amory M. Junio and Hon. Levinson Nessus M. Uy. All officials ran under the banner of Team Quiambao-Sabangan.

Likewise both would also focus on education for all, health for all, employment and livelihood opportunities, agricultural modernization, and competent and committed public service.
