BAGUIO CITY — A security guard who posed as a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested by the operatives of Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) after he was caught in the act of robbing a convenience store in Baguio City on June 27.

The arrested suspect was identified as Micheal Angelo Morelle, 23, a resident of La Trinidad, Benguet.

According to the investigation of BCPO Camdas Police Station (PS2), the victims revealed that the suspect entered the convenience store then he handed over a piece of paper to the store manager with a note ‘Kami po ay mga NPA huwag sisigaw o kikilos ng masama Carmelo Louise F. Juson buhay o pera ang aming malilikom ay tulong sa NPA matagal ka namin pinagmamasdan.”

When the store manager did not pay attention, the suspect got irked and pointed his firearm at the store crew.

Also, the suspect detained the other store crew in the walk-in room and instructed the store manager to put all the money from the counter amounting to more or less P11,000 in his bag.

However, another customer noticed the incident inside the convenience store and reported the incident to police.

Police immediately responded in the area that resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of a cal. 38 revolver with five ammunition.

Morelle was brought to the custody of BCPO Camdas Police Station (PS2) for documentation and proper disposition.

It was found that the name mentioned in the paper was the son of the store manager.

The suspect admitted the crime as, he said, he was addicted to women and gambling.

The suspect is now facing charges for violations of Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code or Robbery with force and intimidation and Republic Act 10591 known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition and Regulation Act of 2013.
