Pasay cops hunt down maulers of MMDA traffic enforcer

The Pasay City police are hunting down the suspects in the mauling of a Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcer during a clearing operation on Sunday, June 26.

Col. Cesar Paday-os, city police chief, said they already have persons of interest behind the mauling of Jose Zabala, team leader of MMDA Route Clearing Operation.

Paday-os said Zabala is now confined at the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment of various bruises and contusion he suffered all over his body.

He said the incident happened around 2:50 p.m. on Sunday in front of Dexin Building located along EDSA corner Don Carlos Revilla St., Pasay City.

The city police chief said Jimmy Valencia, also from the MMDA, claimed that their team led by Zabala conducted a clearing operation against E-Trike vehicles passing along EDSA.

Valencia said a group of men went to their truck and forcibly took the impounded E-Trike. This prompted Zabala to alight from the truck to stop them.

The group of men started mauling Zabala.

The city police chief said no coordination was made by the MMDA to conduct the clearing operation against E-Trike passing along EDSA.
