The camp of President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. made a low-key announcement over the weekend about an incoming official of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

A statement from Press Secretary-designate Trixie Cruz-Angeles, which quoted Executive Secretary-designate Vic Rodriguez, bared that Barangay Captain Felicito "Chito" Valmocina of Holy Spirit, Quezon City has been picked to serve under DILG as an undersecretary.

Rodriguez cited Valmocina for his "lengthy experience as village leader".

While Valmocina's exact office was not identified, Rodriguez gave a hint to this by saying that the former and incoming DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos "would ensure that all barangay officials nationwide will undergo capacity-building training".

Valmocina acknowledged his appointment in a Facebook post Monday, June 27.

"Muli akong nagpapasalamat sa ating President Bongbong Marcos Jr. sa tiwalang ibinigay niya sa akin. Makakaasa po kayo na ibibigay ko ang lahat ng aking makakaya para pagsilbihan ang ating bansa na may dignidad at prinsipyo para sa mas ikauunlad ng bawat barangay sa Pilipinas (Once again I thank our President Bongbong Marcos Jr. for the trust gave me. Rest assured that I will give my all in serving the country in a dignified and principled way, in the name of progress for every barangay)," he wrote.
