Foodpanda PH announces new corporate name

Online quick-commerce platform foodpanda Philippines officially announced the change of its legal corporate name to Delivery Hero Philippines, Inc., reflecting the company’s role as part of the Delivery Hero Group, while continuing to use the “foodpanda” brand name.

Daniel Marogy, managing director of foodpanda Philippines, said in a statement that “With the change in our corporate name, we are proudly representing our parent company in Berlin and regional headquarters in Singapore, while continuing to proudly fly the foodpanda flag along with our colleagues across Asia.”

The change in legal entity name followed after the Berlin-based online food delivery giant Delivery Hero acquired foodpanda in 2016, shortly before the former went public on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and a few years before the whole global online food delivery sector went into hypergrowth due to increased demand during the pandemic.

In 2019, Delivery Hero acquired a USD four billion majority stake in South Korea-based Woowa, which operates the country’s largest online food delivery service, and in the process creating a Singapore-based joint venture that will oversee all of Delivery Hero’s operations in Asia, including foodpanda.

“The formation of Delivery Hero Asia is an exciting one as it opens the door for many synergies and collaborations between Woowa and other foodpanda markets, not to mention the dynamic relationship we already have with Berlin,” remarked Marogy.

Marogy noted that the company had already notified its partners that all invoicing, relevant marketing materials, and other related legal and commercial documents have been rebranded following February 2022, when the corporate name change to Delivery Hero Philippines, Inc. became official.

“We are excited to continue working closely with our partner vendors and delivery partners across our ecosystem, and provide them the same high level of service and professionalism,” Marogy added.

The announcement comes as foodpanda celebrates its 8th anniversary in the Philippines in June, with month-long festivities that include carnival-themed mall caravans, outreach programs, exciting treats and promos for customers, appreciation day and other activities for riders, and other celebrations.

“For 8 years and counting, we have continued to deliver change to countless lives in our community of partners and stakeholders,” Marogy said. “Starting from our humble beginnings of offering food delivery, we have grown so much with a range of services including grocery delivery, shared kitchens, dine-in, and pick-up, and we're not yet done growing. I'm excited for what the future will bring for us Pandas.”

“With this new chapter as Delivery Hero Philippines, we hope to make an even greater impact on the digital food space,” Marogy added.
