Department of Transportation Art Tugade vowed to ensure a smooth transition as President-elect Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. named his successor.
"President-elect Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has decided. We must fully trust and support his decision for his success shall be the success of the Filipino people," said Tugade in a statement.
Marcos named Jaime Bautista, a Certified Public Accountant who worked for more than three decades at the Philippine Airlines as the new secretary of the DOTr.
Tugade said he personally know Bautista and vouched for his hard work and dedication to any job assigned to him.
"We have long years of association and friendship. His professionalism, experience, dedication, and hard work will certainly augur well in his being the Secretary of Transportation," said Tugade.
"In the best of my abilities and capabilities, I shall assist in however way asked and needed," he added.
Tugade said the DOTr Transition Team is likewise exerting all efforts to ensure a smooth, full, and transparent transition.
