San Beda won the battle of winless teams as it conquered Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), 17-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-23, Sunday to barge into the win column in NCAA women’s volleyball at Paco Arena.
Trisha Mae Perez led her team with 15 points while Maxinne Joyce Tayag fired away with 14 hits as the Red Spikers bucked a sluggish start and improved to a 1-4 record.
The Nemesio Gavino Jr.-mentored San Beda belles got off to a flat, error-prone opening set that enabled the Lady Generals to seize a one-set-to-nothing advantage and looked headed to ending a four-game slide.
But San Beda outlasted EAC in the last three sets that could have gone either way had the former not shown greater resolve.
While the Red Spikers ended their misery, the Lady Generals extended theirs and remained winless in five outings.
