The rescue of the dogs was reported over the weekend by Bach Project PH, a non-profit animal welfare advocate, which posted photos of the animals on Facebook calling for adoption.

Police Major Richard Fajarito, head of Police Station 10, said a concerned citizen sighted a tricycle loaded with dogs roaming around the barangay that day.

The suspects were flagged down by a security guard of slaughterhouse but fled, leaving the dogs and the tricycle behind.

The dogs were rescued and turned over to the City Veterinary Office. They are now under the care of the Bacolod City Pound.

Police said the suspects buy the dogs for not less than P100 each.

Bach Project PH believes that these dogs were either stolen pets, snatched from the streets, or bought from owners.

The group urged the public to report to the police information that could lead them in finding the two suspects.
