A tornado hit the San Lazaro area in Sta. Cruz, Manila amid heavy rain on Wednesday, June 22.
In a video taken by Jeff Epoy Carreon, the tornado swept away trees and overturned one tricycle.
People took shelter in a nearby shopping mall to avoid strong winds brought by the tornado.
Tornadoes are caused by severe thunderstorms in warm, moist, unstable air along and ahead of cold fronts.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday scattered rain showers and thunderstorms would continue to affect some parts of the country in the next 24 hours.
