Misuari’s nephew survives riding-in-tandem gun attack

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Riding-in-tandem suspects struck along busy Governor Camins Avenue in Zamboanga City Wednesday morning and shot the vehicle carrying a court witness who was also identified as a nephew of MNLF faction chairman Nur Misuari.

Riding-in-tandem suspects fired repeatedly at this vehicle carrying a nephew of MNLF faction Chairman Nur Misuari in Zamboanga City last Wednesday, June 22.

Inier Jalilun Misuari was unhurt in the attack. The driver of the vehicle, Bernar Camay Martus, was hit on the left arm after gunmen fired repeatedly at the driver’s side.

The suspects fled on foot while leaving their motorcycle behind.

A certain Omar Adulla Pondoy was arrested by Aviation Security personnel near the Zamboanga International Airport located several meters away from the scene of the crime.

Police are conducting pursuit operations for the arrest of Pondoy’s cohort and two other suspects on board another motorcycle.

Zamboanga Police Public Information Officer P/Maj. Paul Andrew Cortez refused to comment on the circumstances behind the attack, saying the investigation is still ongoing.
