After a festive weekend which saw Sara Duterte inaugurated as the country’s 15th Vice President, focus returns to the President-elect as Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. prepares to take his oath in nine days as the 17th President of the Philippines.

Marcos also shared his concerns over the rising fuel costs and the backlog in the issuance of National IDs even as he drew mixed reactions from his decision to temporarily handle his government’s agriculture portfolio.

The country’s Covid-19 vaccination program was also stepped up with the Department of Health (DOH) approving the administration of booster shots for minors aged 12 to 17 years old.

The death of Filipino lawyer John Laylo in a drive-by shooting in Philadelphia could have been a case of mistaken identity, according to the Philippine consul general even as he also assured that the victim’s remains will immediately flown back to the country.
