PNP buoyed by Sara's peaceful, orderly oathtaking in preparing for BBM's June 30 inauguration

A top police official has expressed confidence of ensuring a peaceful and orderly inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in Manila following the successful implementation of the security measures for Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio in Davao City on Sunday, June 19.

Police Maj. Gen. Valeriano De Leon, director for Operations of the Philippine National Police (PNP), attributed the peaceful and and orderly inauguration to the early preparations and constant coordination of the police with other concerned government agencies.

"I express my gratitude to all our personnel in the Davao region for their hard work and sacrifices to ensure that no untoward incident would occur during the oathtaking of the nation's second-highest official, Vice President-elect Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio," said De Leon, who was present during the oathtaking ceremony on June 19.

"Once again, we were able to demonstrate that early preparation and maintaining open lines of communication are vital to the success of any undertaking, "he added.

De Leon said they will be using almost the same security template for the oathtaking of Marcos at the National Museum in Manila on June 30, explaining that all of the strategies that were prepared and implemented during the inauguration of Duterteare good lessons and experience.

"Of course, there will be security adjustments depending on the location and situation on the ground, but overall, the successful security implementation during Vice President-elect Inday Sara's inauguration served as a good security template that will be adopted on June 30, " said De Leon.

At least six big TV screens were set up in Davao City during the inauguration of the Vice President-elect. This resulted in decongesting the venue, which could only accommodate a certain number of guests.

De Leon stated that consultations are already underway with the management and owners of big television screens along EDSA and in other parts of the country to provide live coverage of the oathtaking.

The Philippine Arena in Bulacan, the Mall of Asia in Pasay City, the Philippine Sports Center in Pasig City, and the North Luzon Express Terminal in Bulacan were also named as places for viewing areas.

"Our security plan for another historic event on June 30 is ready. As a result of the deployment and traffic rerouting, we have already devised strategies on how to manage the personnel and other potential circumstances," explained De Leon.

De Leon stated that freedom parks would be designated in light of the plans of some groups to organize protests.
