Cops seize over P1-M worth of ‘shabu’ from Bukidnon businessman


CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Police operatives seized over P1-million worth of shabu after they implemented a search and seizure warrant against a businessman in Purok-9, North Poblacion, Maramag town in Bukidnon on Sunday night, June 19.

In a report, the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office (BPPO) identified the suspect as Sir Knight Espiritu, 42, of said place and listed in Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as Top 5 in provincial level priority target.

The BPPO’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) implemented the search and warrant signed by Hon. Mirabeaues Undalok, assisting Judge of Regional Trial Court 10, Branch 8 at Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, dated June 17, 2022 for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The police personnel from Maramag Municipal Police Station, Regional Special Operating Unit 10 (RSOU-10), 1st and 2nd Bukidnon Provincial Mobile Force Company and 1003rd Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Company 10 were also present to provide security assistance during the implementation.

The operating team confiscated four sachets and two big cellophanes containing alleged illegal drugs weighing more or less 185 grams with an estimated market value of P1,285,000. They also confiscated several drug paraphernalia.

The confiscated evidence had been submitted to Bukidnon Provincial Forensic Unit Office in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon for qualitative and quantitative examination.

The suspect also underwent a drug test examination.

BPPO director Jun Mark Lagare commended the police operating team for arresting the suspect.

On the other hand, Brig. Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., the director of Police Regional Office of Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) vowed to the public for the continuation of more intensified monitoring and operation to fight against illegal drugs.

“The campaign against illegal drugs has been continuing. Our police have been monitoring 24/7, especially to the areas here in region 10 where the use of illegal drugs is rampant,” Acorda said.

“We are serious in this matter and this is not something that we could just neglect. We will take the necessary steps,” he added.

The suspect was brought to the custodial facility of Maramag Municipal Police Station.
