Police asset gunned down in latest Bacolod shooting incident

BACOLOD CITY – A man said to be a police asset was gunned down in Purok Langis, Barangay Banago here Friday, June17, the seventh shooting incident this month and the third this week in this city.

The victim was identified as a certain “Bryan,” of Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Police Capt. Armilyn Vargas, head of the Police Station 3, said the victim was waiting for someone inside a computer shop when an unidentified lone gunman entered and shot him in the head. The victim died on the spot.

Police recovered from the crime scene a fired bullet from an unknown firearm.

Vargas said they are looking into the case as drug-related after police recovered from the victim an improvised tooter and lighter.

She said the victim was temporarily residing in Barangay 3 here and would usually go to that computer shop.

Vargas added that there were reports that the victim was an alleged police asset but this information has yet to be verified.

She said they are awaiting the victim’s family to surface to confirm his identity.
