Nigeria to work with PH on natural gas--envoy

The government of Nigeria has committed to "collaborate" with the Philippines in connection with the natural gas sector.

Thus, said Ambassador of Nigeria Folakemi Ibidunni Akileye in a press briefing with local reporters on Friday, June 17 at the BBM headquarters in Mandaluyong City.

Before this, Akileye carried out a courtesy call to President-President-elect Bongbong Marcos Friday morning at the same venue.

"So because I know he is keen on green energy. So we talked about natural gas as well," the lady envoy said, referring to Marcos.

"So Nigeria is ready to collaborate, some work with the Philippines," she added, noting that Nigeria is the number three natural gas producer in the world.

Akileye also highlighted that Nigeria is among the world's top oil producers and that it is willing to help stabilize world oil prices.

It is widely known that movements in world oil prices affect all economies, and this is especially true in the Philippines--a country with a deregulated oil market.

"I actually mentioned to the president-elect as well. The Nigeria is number 12 oil producer in the world. So we can help. We are number three, gas natural, gas producer in the world," she said.
