Sara Duterte visits wake of ex-ISAFP chief Erwin Neri


Vice President-elect and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte paid her last respects to the late Major General Erwin Bernard Neri, former chief of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP).

Duterte posted on Facebook the photos of her visit to St. Peter Chapels in Panacan, Davao City to convey her condolences to the family left behind by the retired general.

“lIsang pagpupugay po para sa inyo, MGen. Erwin Neri. Salamat po sa inyong serbisyo sa bayan. Salamat sa pagmamahal niyo sa ating Pilipinas (A tribute to you, Gen. Erwin Neri. Thank you for your service to the nation. Thank you for loving our Philippines),” she said in a post on Wednesday, June 15.

The incoming vice president was seen standing and praying in front of Neri’s coffin during her visit.

Neri passed away on Independence Day, June 12, at the age of 58. He will be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.

Neri, a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1988, served as ISAFP commander since November 2018 before his retirement.

Prior to his ISAPF stint, Neri was commander of Task Force Davao and the Army’s 1001st Infantry Brigade in Compostela Valley.
