Bypass road in Capiz, concreting of road in Zambo City completed- DPWH

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a bypass road project in Capiz and road-concreting project in Zamboanga City.

In a statement, DPWH Sec. Roger Mercado said the 1.22 kilometer bypass road now provides faster and more comfortable travel in the municipality of Maayon and its neighboring towns in the province of Capiz.

"The Maayon Bypass Road Project now decongests traffic in the main thoroughfare of the municipalities of Maayon and Cuartero, and Barangay Bailan in Pontevedra," said Mercado.

He said the new road, with project cost of P37.5 million, cuts the travel time from Barangay Indayagan to Barangay Poblacion Ilawod in Maayon.

Mercardo said the road project will also allow easier distribution of economic activities between downtown areas and new development areas along the bypass route.

In Zamboanga City, Mercado said the 582-meter newly-completed road in Barangay Bolong also improved the travel time to and from the city proper by 10 minutes.
