2 yield P68-M shabu in Cebu City sting


CEBU CITY – Police seized suspected shabu valued at P68 million from two persons in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sambag I here Tuesday, June 14.

Police identified the suspects as Cornelio Villamin Baron Jr., 39, of Barangay Singco, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, and Jacqueline Gustilo Baron, 49, of Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit and Regional Intelligence Division seized at least 10 kilos of shabu from the two suspects.

Police said the illegal drugs were concealed in a Chinese tea bag packaging.

Police Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas, said the illegal drugs came from San Carlos City and were supposed to distributed in Metro Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and Cebu.

“I laud the operating units for working tirelessly and for another big haul of illegal drugs in the city this week. PRO7 is committed to suppressing the proliferation of illegal drugs in the Visayas region and arrest of high-value individuals. We will further conduct an in-depth investigation leading to the source of illegal drugs and persons behind it,” said Vega.
